چکیده

Abstract Background The hexapod external fixator (HEF) is increasingly used for high-energy tibial shaft fracture care as more general orthopedic surgeons are gaining expertise of this versatile device. purpose study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness HEF definitive management in patients with fractures. Methods conducted on 34 fractures who were admitted or referred our institution and consented treatment from Jan 2016 June 2019, including 27 males 7 females a mean age 39 years (range 18 65 years). Management of paediatric tibial fractures using two types of circular external fixator: Taylor spatial frame and Ilizarov circular fixator

BACKGROUND The use of circular fixators for the treatment of tibial fractures is well established in the literature. The aim of this study was to compare the Ilizarov circular fixator (ICF) with the Taylor spatial frame (TSF) in terms of treatment results in consecutive patients with tibial fractures that required operative management. METHOD A retrospective analysis of patient records and ra...

Treatment of high-energy tibial plateau fractures by the Ilizarov circular fixator.

We treated 24 patients with high-energy fractures of the tibial plateau by the Ilizarov fixator and transfixion wires. Eleven fractures were open, and 20 patients had complex injuries. Twelve were treated by ligamentotaxis and percutaneous fixation, seven by limited open reduction and five by extensive open reduction. All were followed for at least 24 months. All the fractures united, with an a...
